Eligibility Criteria
1. Nationality / Citizenship
A candidate must be one of the following:
- A Citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Candidates in categories (ii) to (v) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
2. Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026)
- Minimum age: 20 years
- Maximum age: 30 years
- The candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1996 and not later than 01.07.2006 (both dates inclusive).

3. Educational Qualification (as on 21.07.2026)
A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
- The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate proving graduation on the day of registration.
- The percentage of marks in graduation must be indicated while registering online.
- The final result must have been declared on or before 21.07.2026.
- Where CGPA/OGPA is awarded, it must be converted into a percentage as per the university's norms.

Selection Process
IBPS PO selection is a multi-stage process:
- Online Preliminary Examination (objective, qualifying)
- Online Main Examination (objective + descriptive)
- Personality Test (self-report; non-qualifying but mandatory to attend)
- Common Interview (conducted by participating banks, coordinated by nodal bank)
- Provisional Allotment (based on merit-cum-preference)
Important: Only the marks obtained in the Online Main Examination are considered for shortlisting for the Personality Test & Interview and for final merit listing.

Candidates must qualify in each of the three tests by securing the minimum cut-off decided by IBPS. Adequate candidates from each category will be shortlisted for the Main Exam.

The Main Exam objective section carries 200 marks (160 minutes) plus a Descriptive Paper of 25 marks (30 minutes), for a total duration of 3 hours 10 minutes. The Descriptive Paper may be based on economic and social issues, emerging trends in banking and technology, current events, ethics, etc., and may be evaluated by an automated scoring mechanism.
C. Personality Test
Candidates who qualify in the Main Exam will appear for a Personality Test (self-report). It is non-qualifying, but appearing for it is mandatory to be eligible for the interview. It may be conducted in proctored mode or at identified centres.
Penalty for Wrong Answers
- 0.25 marks (one-fourth of the marks assigned) will be deducted for every wrong answer in the objective tests (applicable to both Preliminary and Main exams).
- No penalty for unattempted (blank) questions.
IBPS PO Detailed Syllabus (Topic-Wise)
While IBPS does not publish an exhaustive syllabus, the following topics are consistently tested based on the exam structure.
English Language
Reading comprehension, cloze test, para jumbles, error spotting, sentence improvement, fill in the blanks, vocabulary (synonyms/antonyms), phrase replacement, word usage, and sentence rearrangement.
Quantitative Aptitude / Data Analysis & Interpretation
Number series, simplification and approximation, quadratic equations, data interpretation (tables, bar/line/pie charts, caselets), arithmetic word problems (percentage, ratio, average, profit & loss, time & work, time-speed-distance, simple & compound interest, mixtures, partnership), permutation & combination, probability, and mensuration.
Reasoning Ability
Puzzles and seating arrangement (linear, circular, floor-based), syllogism, blood relations, direction sense, coding-decoding, inequality, order and ranking, input-output, data sufficiency, logical reasoning (statement & assumption/conclusion), and alphanumeric series.
General / Banking / Economy / Financial Awareness
Current affairs (national & international, last 4-6 months), banking and financial awareness, RBI circulars and monetary policy, static GK, important schemes and government initiatives, budget and economic survey highlights, financial and digital awareness, and awards, sports, and appointments.
Descriptive Paper (Main Exam)
Essay writing and reading comprehension based on economic/social issues, banking and technology trends, current events, and ethics.
Interview
- Total marks for the interview: 100.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates).
- Weightage ratio of Main Exam to Interview: 80:20.
- The combined final score is calculated from Main Exam + Interview scores.
- A candidate must qualify in both the Main Exam and the Interview to be considered for provisional allotment.
Provisional Allotment
- Allotment is made to one participating bank based on merit-cum-preference.
- Order of bank preference is inbuilt in the online application form and must be filled at the time of application (no change allowed later).
- A reserve list of approximately 20% of vacancies per category may be maintained.
- Provisional allotment does not constitute an offer of employment; it is subject to eligibility verification and medical fitness.
- This is an All India cadre — allotted candidates may be posted anywhere in India or outside India.
Compensation (Pay Scale)
Probationary Officer / Management Trainee basic pay scale: ₹48,480 – 2000/7 – 62,480 – 2340/2 – 67,160 – 2680/7 – 85,920
Officials are also eligible for allowances and perquisites as per the rules of the participating bank in force from time to time.
Examination Centres
The exam will be conducted online across numerous centres in India. IBPS reserves the right to add/cancel centres and to allot a candidate to a centre other than the one opted for. No request for centre change will be entertained.
Andhra Pradesh Preliminary Exam Centres: Ananthapur, Chirala, Guntur/Vijayawada, Kadapa, Kakinada, Kurnool, Nellore, Ongole, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram.
Andhra Pradesh Main Exam Centres: Guntur/Vijayawada, Kurnool, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram.
Telangana Preliminary Centres: Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal.

How to Apply — Step-by-Step
Candidates can apply online only. Follow these steps:

- Click "New Registration" — enter your basic details. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated and sent via Email & SMS. Note them down.
- Upload documents as per specifications (Annexure III):
- Photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm, 20–50 KB)
- Signature (10–20 KB, not in capital letters)
- Left thumb impression (20–50 KB)
- Hand-written declaration in English (50–100 KB, not in capital letters)
- SSC/SSLC/10th standard certificate (PDF, up to 500 KB)
- Live photograph captured via webcam/mobile
- Certificate as per Clause J(ix) — if applicable
- Fill in the application form carefully — use "Save and Next" to verify. No changes are possible after clicking "Complete Registration". Non-editable fields include Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, State/UT, Post, and Nationality.
- Indicate bank preferences — order of preference is inbuilt and cannot be changed later.
- Pay the application fee online via the integrated payment gateway (Debit/Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, Wallet, or UPI).
- Complete registration — an e-receipt is generated on successful payment. Take a printout of the e-receipt and application form for future reference.
Tip: Keep about 8 copies of the same photograph uploaded during application, as these are needed at various stages. Apply well before the last date to avoid last-minute server issues.

Key Points to Remember
- Only one application per candidate is allowed. Multiple applications result in the latest valid one being retained and other fees forfeited.
- Registered mobile number and email ID must remain active until the conclusion of the CRP.
- The Edit Window (2 days after registration closes) allows a single correction, with a ₹200 fee.
- Candidates should possess a valid Aadhaar card, as online Aadhaar verification is conducted at various stages.
- Any dispute is subject to the sole jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai.
